Hey Sunnies… thats yalls name now and I hope you like it because I think that it’s cute. This evening I want to talk about what it means to be a girls girl. I feel like recently this has become a very popular blurb that holds so much meaning and can be used in a lot of different ways.
For me, a girls girl is a girl, lady, madam, woman who stands for other girls. Uplifting, encouraging and even correcting when wrong. When I was younger, like teenager early twenties I definitely dont think that I was a girls girl. Mainly because I always felt threatened by other girls my age. Now, whether this had to do with the trauma from mild bullying (will get into that another time if you’d like) or just common insecurity is a very fine line. As I got older and especially now, I see the value and importance of having a circle of women around you that not only encourage you to be better but celebrate your success.
I like to do a lot of reflecting, especially in the shower – idk the water just makes me think- but the old saying you are the company you keep is so true. I have been surrounded by such strong women my whole life from my mom, to my tias, grandmas and friends, all of these women have taught me something different and I am so appreciative of that.
Now, back to being a girls girl. Men, if you are reading this, you too can be a girls girl lol. Being a GG isn’t always going to be fun. Sometimes you have to tell the truth to people that are living in Delulu land to bring them back. Or you have to be a shoulder to cry on when your friend is going through a tough time. Even worse, you have to be the one to tell your friend that man is no good for her. Hopefully you get where Im going. A GG is a well rounded friend that is there to encourage, be a listening ear, an advocate and a truth teller.
I just had to share that with you guys. Until next time, keep it sunny : p
