Blinded by the blue-light minds are quietly being controlled by the algorithms. “One more minute” turns into thirty. Look up and the day has passed by. Leaving the sense of productivity lost and never to be found again. “Tomorrow is a new day”. Tomorrow comes and the cycle repeats itself.
WHY CAN’T I GET OFF MY PHONE .

We like to think that there is only one form of currency, money. While money does make the world go around there is something that is far more precious than coins, and that is attention. Unfortunately, many people spend countless hours doomscrolling their lives away and not taking into consideration the negative impact it has over the human brain. Whether that is people searching for connection through social media or trying to cure their boredom the effects are still detrimental.
Making connections off screen can be daunting but continuing to live life off of a phone is even scarier. It works in a cycle. A creator posts their content, the audience watches, the creator gets paid and posts more, the audience watches ignoring their lives outside of the phone and the cycle repeats. While it is wonderful that the creator is making money and able to express themselves. Attention is the most precious currency we have.
The algorithm has been made to keep us addicted. Our brains do not have any time to just think. Every waking moment we are distracting ourselves. Waiting in line – get on the phone, waiting at a stop sign – get on the phone, so on and so forth.
What if for a moment we just let our brains think? Wonder and explore the world around us. Allow ourselves to be curious like we were before social media took over. In an era where attention is actual currency, it is time to be mindful about where it is being spent. Take back control of your mind and spend it wisely.
